Our History
StageCraft Academy was founded in 2005 by Eleanor Vance, a renowned actress and director with a passion for nurturing young talent. Eleanor envisioned a performing arts school that would provide students with a comprehensive and rigorous training program, while also fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment. Starting with a small group of students in a rented studio in Greenwich Village, the academy quickly gained a reputation for excellence in instruction and a commitment to student success.
Over the years, StageCraft Academy has grown from a small studio into a leading institution in performing arts education. We have expanded our curriculum to include a wide range of courses and workshops, from foundational acting techniques to specialized training in film, television, and stage performance. We have also assembled a distinguished faculty of award-winning actors, directors, and playwrights who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom.
In 2012, StageCraft Academy moved to its current location at 78 West 12th Street, a historic building that has been renovated to provide state-of-the-art facilities for our students. The new location allowed us to expand our programs and offer even more opportunities for students to learn and grow. Today, StageCraft Academy is proud to be a vibrant and thriving community of artists, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of creative expression and making a meaningful impact on the world.
Eleanor Vance’s vision continues to guide StageCraft Academy. Her dedication to providing students with the tools they need to succeed, combined with a commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, remains at the heart of everything we do. StageCraft Academy is not just a school; it’s a family.
