Audition Information for StageCraft Academy

Ready to take the stage? Find all the information you need about auditioning for StageCraft Academy's prestigious acting programs.

Audition Requirements

To be considered for admission to StageCraft Academy, all prospective students must complete an audition. The audition process is designed to assess your current acting abilities, potential for growth, and suitability for our rigorous training programs. We encourage all applicants, regardless of prior experience, to audition and showcase their passion for the craft.

General Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.
  • A completed application form, available on our website.
  • Submission of a recent headshot and resume (if applicable).
  • Payment of the non-refundable audition fee of $50.

Audition Materials

The audition typically consists of the following components:

  1. Monologue Performance: Prepare and perform one monologue from a published play. The monologue should be no more than two minutes in length. Choose a piece that showcases your strengths as an actor and allows you to connect emotionally with the material. Selections from contemporary plays are encouraged, but classical works are also acceptable.
  2. Cold Reading: You will be provided with a short scene from a play that you have not seen before. You will have a few minutes to review the material before performing it with another auditionee. This exercise assesses your ability to quickly analyze a script, make character choices, and collaborate with others.
  3. Improvisation (Optional): Depending on the program you are applying for, you may be asked to participate in a brief improvisation exercise. This exercise assesses your ability to think on your feet, be spontaneous, and work creatively within a given scenario.
  4. Interview: Following your performance, you will participate in a brief interview with a member of our faculty. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your background, your goals as an actor, and your reasons for wanting to study at StageCraft Academy.
